A motorised louvred roof that tilts: the Gold or the Platinum. A roof that stacks away: the Retractable. Sliding glass walls turn the chosen structure into an enclosed bioclimatic room. Every model is made to your dimensions and supplied across the UK; glass, screens, lighting and heating can be included in the initial estimate and are confirmed in the detailed quotation.

The Gold

The mid-range louvred roof. Louvres to 90°, remote and app control, 8-year coating guarantee.

THE SHOW PERGOLA · SUTTON, RETFORD

See one in Retford.

One full-size Platinum stands at our premises in Sutton, Retford, with sliding glass walls, LED lighting and a motorised louvred roof you can open and close yourself. Together they form the enclosed bioclimatic room. The Gold and the Retractable are manufactured on the same made-to-measure principle; the roof and structural specification differ by model. T6 is the harder temper of the same alloy: on the EN 755-2 minimums for the wall thicknesses we use, 6063-T6 is rated 170 MPa proof and 215 MPa tensile against 130 and 175 for T5, about 30% more load before the metal takes a permanent set. NO SALES. NO GIMMICKS. JUST HONEST PRICES.

What a pergola costs, and why there is no price list.

Budget guide: allow £8,000–£20,000 for the made-to-measure pergola structure supplied. These are made-to-measure motorised aluminium structures, specified in millimetres rather than selected from stock sizes. Your model, exact dimensions, structural layout and chosen accessories determine the final figure. Specialist HIAB delivery is quoted separately once we know your postcode and site access.

An initial estimate before the detailed work

Send approximate sizes and photographs. We prepare a budget estimate using current manufacturer pricing and aim to return it within a few working days, so you can decide whether to continue before the detailed specification begins.

A firm quotation when you are ready

If the estimate suits your budget, we confirm the model, dimensions, layout, accessories, delivery and site requirements. You then receive the detailed specification, CAD drawings and firm written quotation before you order.

And if this is not the month to buy, we will say so

Freight costs have risen sharply this year. We would rather quote you honestly now and take the order later than sell you a pergola at the wrong moment.

SUPPLY ONLY, AND WHY

What we do, and what you do.

We estimate it first.
Send approximate dimensions and photographs. We use current manufacturer pricing to prepare an initial budget estimate within a few working days. If the figure suits your budget, we then confirm the detailed specification, CAD drawings and firm written quotation.
We have it made.
Manufactured to your dimensions by our manufacturing partner, assembled, tested and inspected before it ships, with a video of your finished structure. About three months from order.
We crane-deliver it.
Your pergola arrives in a shipping crate, which is why it comes on a HIAB lorry and is lifted onto your prepared base — not left at the kerb in packages for two people to carry. We check your access at the detailed quotation stage.
You lay the base and build it.
Four pad foundations, 850 mm deep, to the specification we send with your drawings; concrete needs 28 days to cure. Assembly is from the supplied instructions, and a mid-range structure goes together in three to six hours.

That division of labour is what keeps the price where it is. We supply and deliver; we do not fit.

HOW IT WORKS

From your sizes to your garden.

Eight steps, one payment term, and a confirmed date before the final balance.

STEP 01

Your sizes

Rough dimensions and a photograph of the space are enough to begin.

STEP 02

Your initial budget estimate

We use current manufacturer pricing and aim to return an initial estimate within a few working days.

STEP 03

Detailed specification and firm quotation

If the estimate suits your budget, we confirm the model, dimensions, layout, accessories, delivery and site requirements, then prepare the CAD drawings and firm written quotation.

STEP 04

A 75% initial stage payment

Starts manufacture of your structure, to your dimensions.

STEP 05

Built and inspected

Made in about three months from order, assembled and inspected at the factory before it ships. You get a video of your finished structure and tracking for the crossing.

STEP 06

The remaining 25%

Due when your delivery is scheduled — so you have a confirmed date before the final payment is requested.

STEP 07

HIAB delivery

It arrives in a shipping crate on a crane lorry and is lifted onto your prepared base. Adequate access, level hardstanding and someone at home on the day are all required; we check the access route at the detailed quotation stage.

STEP 08

Inspect, then build

Inspect your delivery with the driver and report any visible transit damage within 48 hours. Then build it from the supplied instructions: three to six hours for a mid-range structure.

Compare the complete specification, not one headline measurement. Post size, wall thickness, alloy and temper, maximum span and the written structural guarantee all matter. Where a maker does not publish one of those details, we mark it as “not published” rather than guess.

PERGOLUX’s current Skydance S3 technical drawing shows a 150mm column with a 2.3mm wall. Our Platinum also uses a 150mm post, with a 2.8mm wall, while our Retractable stands on a 200mm post with a 3.0mm wall.

We publish the alloy and the temper. Most of the market publishes neither. T6 is the harder temper of the same alloy: on the EN 755-2 minimums for the wall thicknesses we use, 6063-T6 is rated 170 MPa proof and 215 MPa tensile against 130 and 175 for T5, about 30% more load before the metal takes a permanent set.

Made to your dimensions for British weather, not chosen from a continental size range.

Post and wall sections are the manufacturer’s published dimensions, and alloy tempers are to EN 755-2. Competitor figures are those each company published on its own site or in its own documents, checked in August and September 2026; “not published” means we could not find the figure there. Guarantees are as each company states them — ours are given by Sterling Grid Security Ltd, the company you buy from, and do not depend on who fits it. Where a manufacturer publishes two different figures for the same model, we use the current product page and technical drawing.

WHO BUILDS THEM

Our structures are made by a specialist with thirteen years in louvred roof systems, on a production line independently verified by SGS, and eight engineers in its own R&D team.

We don't publish the maker's name. What we do publish is what they build to — the sections above.

THE RETRACTABLE, COMPARED

Comparable UK retractable systems are supplied in fixed sizes to a maximum of 6m × 4m, installed, from £23,995.

Ours is made to your dimensions, on a 200 × 200 × 3.0mm post, supplied. HIAB crane delivery to your prepared site is quoted separately, once we know the distance.

MATERIAL 6063 Aluminium

PLATINUM — MAXIMUM SINGLE STRUCTURE Up to 7 m × 6 m
Coating System Industrial Powder Coat

HOW IT IS BUILT

What it is made of.

6063 aluminium, an industrial powder coat, drainage through the posts and a weatherproof motor. Every component is specified for the British climate, and every dimension is the manufacturer’s published figure.

6063 Aluminium

Corrosion-resistant, dimensionally stable, and and stable through the temperature swings of a British year.

Industrial Powder Coating

Factory-applied powder coating, cured onto the aluminium rather than painted on. It will not rot, warp or need re-sealing the way a timber structure does — washing it down is the maintenance. The coating is guaranteed for up to 10 years; see our guarantee terms.

Cascade Integrated Drainage

Internal drainage channels carry rainwater from the sealed louvres into the beam gutters and down through the hollow posts, so it leaves through the structure rather than off an edge. Keep the blades, gutters and channels clear and it stays that way — our Stewardship Program sets out what to do and when.

Motorised roof

Remote control on every model; smartphone and smart-home control on the Gold and the Platinum.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions, answered.

How waterproof is the pergola?
Yes, with the louvres closed — and it stays that way if it is maintained. Rain is channelled from the sealed blades into the beam gutters and down through the hollow posts, so anything that blocks that path holds water back. Keep the blades, gutters and drainage channels clear of leaves and debris, and check the blade seals as part of routine care; our Stewardship Program sets out what to do and when. The structure also needs to sit on a level base for the drainage to run as designed.
Can I install it myself?
Our pergolas are designed for straightforward assembly, with detailed installation instructions provided. Damage caused during fitting isn’t covered by the guarantee — but defects in the products themselves remain covered regardless of who installs them.
What wind and snow can it take?
We do not publish a wind or snow rating, and we would rather explain why than quote a number we cannot stand behind. Most of the ratings quoted in this market are manufacturers' estimates rather than test results, and they are often labelled as estimates in the manufacturer's own documents. We will publish a figure when we hold a test report that names the structure we supply, and not before. What we do publish is the structure itself: the alloy and temper, the post section and the wall thickness — 6063-T5 or T6, on posts of 150 × 150 × 2.0 mm, 150 × 150 × 2.8 mm or 200 × 200 × 3.0 mm, with 304 stainless steel base plates on the Retractable. Most of the market publishes none of that. The Platinum carries a 15-year structural guarantee, given by Sterling Grid Security Ltd. Your quotation includes a foundation specification for your own site, because a pergola is only as strong as the base it stands on.
What is the lead time from order to delivery?
Your structure is built to your specification in Month 1 following your 75% initial stage payment. Delivery is scheduled in Months 2–3 with a secure shipping window, by HIAB crane to your prepared site.
What are the payment terms?
A 75% initial stage payment is taken when we accept your bespoke order, and commits your bespoke manufacture and the supply, shipping and import arrangements that go with it. The remaining 25% balance is payable when your delivery is scheduled — so you have a confirmed date before the final payment is requested.
What sort of base does it need?
A level, structurally sound base that is ready before delivery. A concrete slab is the usual choice, and it must be fully cured before the structure is fixed down — concrete reaches its working strength over about 28 days. An unlevel base is the commonest cause of a roof that will not close cleanly. All questions, and the planning, measuring and foundations guides.
