PERGOLA PROS · COMMERCIAL
Commercial Pergolas for Pubs, Restaurants & Hotels
Commercial pergolas make outdoor seating easier to trade through changeable British weather. Choose a motorised louvred or retractable aluminium roof, made to your venue’s dimensions and delivered by crane.
Request a commercial estimateCovers you can rely on
An outdoor area that cannot be used in rain or wind is lost trade on a countable number of days each year. A structure that makes those days tradeable changes the arithmetic of the space. Our roofs are motorised, sealed and drained, so covered outdoor seating stays usable rather than merely sheltered.
Commercial pergolas for pubs, restaurants, cafés and hotels
Restaurant pergolas, pub beer-garden covers and hotel courtyard structures have to work around the people and service routes already there. A commercial pergola turns that space into bookable seating: louvres open for a sunny lunchtime, the roof closes for a passing shower, and each elevation can be glazed, screened or left open. Because every structure is made to your dimensions, an awkward frontage or narrow side space is a measurement rather than a stock-size compromise.
Engineered for exposed sites
These are not garden gazebos. The structures we supply use engineered aluminium, model-specific structural sections, concealed motors, integrated drainage and a durable powder-coated finish. Full specifications for our established models are published on the Platinum, Gold and Retractable pages.

Configure it around the way you trade
Options include fixed, sliding or folding glass doors; solid or louvred aluminium screens; zipped blinds; integrated louvre and gutter lighting; a rain sensor; heaters and fans. We confirm the final combination around the site, access, exposure and how the terrace will be used.
Manufacturer’s current catalogue specification. Final dimensions, section sizes, controls, colours and accessories are confirmed in your project drawings and quotation.
Commercial louvred and retractable pergola systems
A motorised louvred pergola gives staff quick control of sunlight, shade and airflow, then closes to channel rain into the integrated gutters and posts. Our Commercial Range adds remote and app control, so the roof can be adjusted without interrupting service.
Where an open-sky atmosphere matters, our retractable commercial pergola uses aluminium louvres that tilt and stack to one side. The right commercial roof system depends on the terrace orientation, exposure, required span and whether you value maximum open sky or the larger footprint of the Commercial Range. We set out the proposed layout in the drawings before you order.
Built to your space
Outdoor spaces are rarely square. Every structure is manufactured to your dimensions rather than selected from stock sizes, in single-bay and multi-bay configurations. Our Commercial Range reaches a maximum 9 × 6 m as a single structure, while the Platinum reaches a maximum 7 × 6 m as a single structure. Larger spaces can be covered with bayed layouts, subject to the project drawings. Screens, frameless sliding glass and louvred walls can be specified per side, so a space can be opened through summer and enclosed through winter.
Establish the budget before detailed design
Send approximate dimensions, site photographs and the options you are considering. We use current manufacturer pricing to prepare an initial budget estimate within a few working days. If the figure suits the project budget, we then confirm the detailed specification and prepare the CAD drawings and firm written quotation. Those drawings give you something concrete to put in front of a landlord, planning officer or whoever signs off the spend before you order. Read our pergola planning guide while you assess the site; commercial premises may also have lease, licensing or local-authority requirements that need checking for the individual venue.
Supplied, delivered, and fitted by your own contractor
We supply and deliver by HIAB crane to your prepared site. Foundations and assembly are arranged by you, which keeps the cost down and lets you schedule the work around trading hours rather than ours. We provide the full foundation specification with your drawings so your contractor can price it accurately. Our installation and site guide explains the base, access and delivery responsibilities.
Common questions
Can a commercial outdoor seating area be used through winter?
Yes. The roof closes in seconds when the weather turns and drains away through the posts, so the space stays usable rather than merely sheltered. Screens, frameless sliding glass and louvered walls can be specified per side, so a patio can be opened up through summer and closed down through winter.
Which is better for a restaurant: a louvred or retractable roof?
A louvred roof prioritises shade, airflow and larger made-to-measure footprints. A retractable aluminium roof is the better fit when opening more of the terrace to the sky is the priority. We compare both options against your dimensions, exposure and trading needs in the project drawings.
Do commercial pergolas need planning permission?
That depends on the site, structure and how the premises are used. A commercial venue may also need landlord, lease, licensing or local-authority approval. Check the position with the relevant professionals and authority before ordering; our CAD drawings give them a defined proposal to assess.
Who installs a commercial pergola?
We supply and deliver by HIAB crane to your prepared site. Foundations and assembly are arranged by you, which keeps the cost down and lets you schedule the work around trading hours rather than ours. We provide the full foundation specification with your drawings so your contractor can price it accurately.
Can it be made to fit an awkward space?
Yes. Outdoor spaces are rarely square, so every structure is manufactured to your dimensions rather than selected from stock sizes. Our Commercial Range reaches a maximum 9 × 6 m as a single structure, and larger areas can use a bayed layout subject to the project drawings.
Can a commercial pergola include sides, lighting and heating?
Yes. Depending on the chosen system, options include glass doors, zipped blinds, solid or louvred aluminium panels, integrated lighting, heaters, fans and a rain sensor. See the pergola accessories guide and tell us how each side of the terrace needs to work.
Watertight with the louvres closed — and it stays that way if it is maintained. Rain drains through channels in the blades and down inside the posts, so leaves and debris left to build up will hold water back. Keep the blades, gutters and drainage clear, and check the blade seals as part of routine care. Our Stewardship Program sets out what to do and when.
