Pergola Pros Retractable

Open Sky In Seconds

The only pergola in our range with a roof that physically retracts: the louvres stack neatly to one side, opening up to 75% of the sky, then extend back in seconds when you want shelter from sun or rain. The roof sits on 200 × 200 × 3.0 mm posts, the heaviest in our range, fixed to 245 × 245 × 8 mm 304 stainless steel base plates.

Send approximate dimensions and photographs to begin. We first prepare an initial budget estimate using current manufacturer pricing. Detailed specification, CAD drawings and the firm written quotation follow if the estimate suits your budget.

T6 is the harder temper of the same alloy: on the EN 755-2 minimums for the wall thicknesses we use, 6063-T6 is rated 170 MPa proof and 215 MPa tensile against 130 and 175 for T5, about 30% more load before the metal takes a permanent set. Glass sliding sides, screens, lighting and heating can be included in the initial estimate and are confirmed in the detailed quotation. Every guarantee is provided by Sterling Grid Security Ltd. How the Retractable is built.

A motorised louvred roof that also retracts: the blades tilt for shade and passing rain, then stack aside for open sky. Add sliding glass walls when the brief is an enclosed bioclimatic room.

For a pergola with a retractable roof we use the heaviest structure we supply: a 200 × 200 × 3.0 mm post in 6063-T5 aluminium on 8 mm 304 stainless steel base plates. Comparable UK retractable systems come in fixed sizes to about 6 m × 4 m. Ours is built to your dimensions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The Retractable, answered.

How much of the roof opens?
Up to 75%. The louvres tilt to 85° and then slide and stack to one side, so most of the roof is open sky rather than tilted blades. They extend back in seconds when you want shelter from sun or rain.
What is the Retractable built on?
200 × 200 × 3.0 mm posts, the heaviest section in our range, on 245 × 245 × 8 mm 304 stainless steel base plates, with drainage concealed down through the posts. It arrives in a shipping crate and is set down by HIAB crane, so the crane needs a clear path to the spot.
Is the Retractable made to size?
Yes. Comparable UK retractable systems come in fixed sizes to about 6 m × 4 m. Ours is built to your dimensions, up to 4.0 m × 6.0 m as a single bay and in multi-bay configurations beyond that.
Can I see a Retractable in Retford?
The show pergola is a Platinum with a tilting roof; the Retractable's stacking roof is not on display. The finish, the blades and the build quality are the same family, so the visit is still the best way to judge them. Tell us it is the Retractable you are weighing when you book and we will talk you through the differences on the day.
What does a Retractable cost?
Budget guide: allow £8,000–£20,000 for the made-to-measure pergola structure supplied. Your chosen model, exact dimensions, structural layout and accessories determine the final figure. Specialist HIAB delivery is quoted separately once we know your postcode and site access. Send approximate dimensions and photographs for an initial budget estimate, which we aim to return within a few working days. If it suits your budget, we then prepare the detailed specification, CAD drawings and firm written quotation.
